Cinco De Mayo: 2 Garlands to Use In Your Party Decor

Cinco De Mayo is coming up soon and gives us all another reason to have a party with great food, colorful decor, and family & friends.

I will share with you these SUPER simple and easy (anyone can do it) garlands to add to your holiday decor.

I used The Cricut Explore Air to cut these fun pendants and pinanta pictures. Cricut Design Space has thousands of really great images to choose from.

Items Needed:

    1. Cricut Explore Air Wireless Cutting Machine
    2. Crochet Cotton Thread (or any string you want)
    3. needle
    4. Colored 8 1/2″ x 11″ paper
    5. Tape
    6. Scissors

We searched out the pictures we wanted to use for our party and came up with these 2- The Cinco De Mayo Pendant and the Simple Pinata.

I created this project to cut on 8 1/2″ x 11″ paper because that is what I had on hand.  Grab some paper in the colors you want and get cutting!

Here is the template for the Pendant – which I cut In 5 different colors so I had 20 total pendants and it ended up being about 105″ long. You may or may not want yours that long.

This one is very intricate and takes a little time to cut.  It took about 50 min for one sheet of 4.  The awesome thing about this machine is that you can set it to cut and walk away.  Multi tasking is my thing, I love getting more than one thing done at a time and with this machine you can:)

This scraper tool came in handy especially with the intricacy of this pendant.  It saved SO MUCH time, I was able to scrape off all these little pieces left behind.  At first I didn’t realize that I had this tool and I was trying to scrape it off with a much smaller tool and it took forever. I was so grateful to find this scraper, it saved my sanity!

After cutting I put them in the order that I wanted them to hang.  Then strung them on some crochet thread, I used a needle to thread it through the holes at the top. Down one side and up on the other. IT ‘S THAT EASY!

Here is the other for the Pinata.

After you have cut them in the colors you want, the assembly is simple.

I decided to string each color on its own line.  Place the cut-out face down on a flat surface and lay the string on top and tape the string to the back of the cut-out.

Easy Peasy! Now add this to Kirsten’s delicious Beef Tostadas, Mexican Refried Beans and Spanish Rice (this recipe is coming soon), for a savory meal. MMMM So good!

SEE THE HAPPY!
