Baby Shower Brunch & DIY Mug Favors

My sister Elisa is amazing at throwing parties – and throwing this brunch baby shower for our sister-in-law was one of those parties! Paring delicious food together (that does not take all day to prepare) and having simple yet beautiful decorations is a must for the hostess, and Elisa is a pro! Embracing simplicity is a necessity if you want to keep your sanity!

The main part of brunch were these delicious (and might I add cute) breakfast casserole in a ramekin from over at 7th House On the Left. Super simple to whip up, and yet there is just something about having a personal dish that makes you feel just a bit more special. You can do some of the prep the night before and then throw them in the oven to bake just before guests arrive. This makes for a less hectic morning – a win in my book!

I love having ramekins around – perfect for this recipe and several others! I also love having them for serving things that have lots of toppings. You can find some of your own right here

Next we had this yummy RAW MANGO PIE – this is a perfect recipe for brunch – all natural and 100% sugar free for those who might be trying to follow a diet. The crust is made of nuts, dates, and unsweetened coconut, then rest is just fruit. People rave about this one! I love it because it is really best when you make it the night before – perfect to eliminate extra running around and food prep in the morning!

Again with the individual serving dishes – simple and elegant, and might I say delicious! This is just Light and Fit Vanilla yogurt by Dannon. You can buy in a large tub, scoop into some fun containers and add a few fresh raspberries – perfect way to add a sweet and healthier dairy to the mix! A favorite for our little family!

Elisa used brown painters paper as a table runner (which makes it easy to clean up, just roll it up and throw it in recycling.

And I am sure you are wondering about those fun milk bottles, am I right? Elisa bought a case of the Starbucks Frappachino from Costco, dumped them, (we don’t drink coffee) removed the labels, and washed them out – the perfect bottle to add to any party, and way cheaper than purchasing your own milk bottles! I also LOVE the fun water color prints she had in frames – I have some woodland creatures for my boys room done by the same artist Kit Chase you can find in her shop on Esty – HERE.

Elisa also purchased mugs from Ikea for each person. We all made a design or wrote something on it with sharpie markers. You place the decorated mugs on a cookie sheet before you turn the oven on – this allows the mugs to get hot as the oven heats up and avoids cracking! Bake the mugs for 20 minutes at 350* to help the sharpie set. Allow them to cool while gifts are opened. Elisa filled the mugs with hershey kisses and hot chocolate, and had bags and bakers twine to wrap them with. A fun gift for all the guests to go home with!

I love brunch and getting together with all the wonderful ladies I love! The awesome thing about my family is that everyone offers to contribute so not just the hostess is doing and paying for everything! This was such a fun party full of delicious food.

What is a favorite food you love for brunch?
